Toronto-based alternative singer-songwriter magenta is back with her 4-track EP, ‘Angel’. Known for her honest, emotionally charged songwriting and deeply relatable narratives, magenta's music resonates with fans who appreciate storytelling through sound. With a style reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers, Gigi Perez, and Jeremy Zucker, she continues to carve her own path in the alt-pop landscape.

‘Angel’ explores the nuanced stages of young queer love — from the first spark of attraction to the fierce desire to protect and nurture that connection. The EP is a sonic diary, capturing the tender, vulnerable moments that define early relationships. Written in the early days of her current relationship, magenta’s heartfelt lyrics and ethereal soundscapes invite listeners to share in her journey of love, hope, and self-discovery.

The lead single, ‘don't mess with her hope’, serves as the EP's emotional anchor. Written independently in her university dorm room, the track came to life naturally as magenta processed her feelings in real time. After creating the initial demo, she collaborated with producer Joshua Northwood to refine the track, blending gentle melodies with an intimate, storytelling vibe.

"This track is the last piece of the story of my EP ‘Angel’. It’s about protecting the person you love — about holding on to hope even when things feel fragile," says magenta. "I hope listeners can connect with the music and that it gives them hope in love, as this relationship has given me.

‘Angel’ was made possible with funding support from FACTOR Canada and the Canada Council for the Arts, further showcasing the strength of community backing for emerging Canadian talent. magenta’s willingness to lay bare her emotions and life experiences through music continues to captivate listeners, making her one of the most promising voices in the alt-pop scene.

With her raw vulnerability, enchanting melodies, and powerful storytelling, magenta’s ‘Angel’ promises to be a beacon of hope and love for anyone navigating the complexities of their own relationships.
