Emerging indie band Split Second unveils their latest single, “Addicted to Love,” a soulful indie ballad marking the next chapter in the band’s new lineup and an important step in their creative journey. With a sound blending influences from Fleetwood Mac, Arctic Monkeys, Blondie, and Oasis, Split Second has become known for their signature mix of high-energy rock and refined indie pop. Produced by Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Studio and written by Levi Husbands (Guitarist), the track explores the all-consuming rush of love, and the withdrawal you feel post-break-up, embodying the band’s fresh, dynamic sound.
“Addicted to Love” is the first track fully developed by Split Second’s new lineup, featuring Ava on vocals and Louiz on bass. This song carries a special significance for the band, as it represents the solidification of their reformed group, following the lineup change in December 2023. “‘Addicted to Love’ is more than just a love song for us—it’s where the band truly began to bond, finding the creativity and shared purpose we’d been striving for,” says Ava. With its bittersweet lyrics and anthemic vibe, the single explores the feeling of being so immersed in love that it becomes an addiction, only to find that once the drug is taken away through a breakup, the dopamine subsides and cravings kick in. The track is taken off the band's highly anticipated full-length album, Love Life Cycle, due for release in 2025.
Split Second has quickly gained momentum, amassing a strong fan base with over 300K followers on social media, where the band actively connects with fans through new music releases and engaging content. Their growing community of dedicated followers has contributed to Split Second’s successful gig attendance, further strengthened by regular radio play on BBC Introducing and other independent stations. Their impressive lineup of performances has included HopFest, WooFest, MelloFest, and Blackwell Music Festival, as well as a spot on ITV’s This Morning.
The band’s previous work, including “Reach Out,” a song created in collaboration with the NHS to raise mental health awareness in schools, underscores their commitment to creating music with impact. With “Addicted to Love,” Split Second turns their focus to the timeless theme of romance. By layering warm instrumentation with a rich, indie-pop production style, Split Second continues to expand their musical scope and emotional depth. Monaghan’s expertise in production brings an additional polish, enhancing the track’s lush, emotive sound.
