Known for his raw and emotive vocal style, NEWĀRK’s new release builds on the momentum from his critically acclaimed album Flowers That Don’t Exist. With over 100 festival performances across the Netherlands, he has captivated audiences with his electrifying live shows and deeply personal storytelling. ‘Without A You’ marks the beginning of a new chapter for the artist, as he prepares for the release of a highly anticipated upcoming album.

In the lead-up to the exciting release, we asked NEWĀRK to share his top five albums—music that has influenced and inspired over the years. Let’s dive in...

1. You Must Believe In Spring - Bill Evans

I think I listen to this album 5 times a week. It calms me and I never get bored of it. It's really beautiful and I think people need to appreciate these feelings.

2. Dag en Nacht - Ramses Shaffy

Ramses is a dutch artist and my dad is pretty obsessed with him. I listened to it since I was a baby and I really started appreciating the artist. He is a super pure person and reflects this in his songs. I think you can immediately hear what the artist means with his songs. The way how Ramses puts his sensibility in his songs is incredible.

3. Watching Movies with the Sound Off - Mac Miller

I really love this album. I know it by heart and it inspires me a lot. Soundwise but also the lyrics are a masterpiece itself. When I don't feel like listening to Bill Evans I listen to Mac Miller. It helped me a lot to understand the language by listening to Mac's songs. He can describe situations or feelings in an incredible way.

4. Whack World - Tierra Whack

The art of playing with an album. It's 1 minute songs only. The way she put these songs all together is amazing. I can keep listening to it...

5. Drunk - Thundercat, CAT.

Musically and soundwise one of my inspirations. He somehow created a sound that can only be him and I think it's perfect. Original, sublime and crazy. Now I'm here I want to add Blonde - Frank Ocean, Modus Vivendi - 070 Shake, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon - King Krule, Salad Days - Mac deMarco, Melody's Echo Chamber - Melody's Echo Chamber, Yeezus - Ye, Abbey Road - The Beatles on spot 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 because it shaped me till who I am now and 5 favourite albums just isn't enough.
