Patrick Staniforth on the Albums That Shaped His Sound
Patrick Staniforth is an artist who crafts songs with the honesty and depth of a seasoned storyteller; His music—rooted in connection, longing, and life’s unspoken moments—carries an authenticity that sets him apart. With a sound that blends introspective indie-pop with timeless songwriting, it’s no surprise that his influences are just as rich and varied.
As he prepares to release his latest single English Garden—a deeply personal track about meeting his long-lost brother—Patrick takes a moment to reflect on the albums that have shaped him. From the records that first inspired him to pick up a guitar to the ones that continue to influence his songwriting, these are the albums that have left a lasting mark on his journey.
Here, Patrick shares his top favourite albums and what they mean to him...
The Clash - London Calling
Apart from the song London Calling, which is one of my all time favourites, I do like a lot of the songs and the variety. I always like when bands don’t sound the same with each song.
The Smiths – Strangeways here we come
It´s the first Smiths album I bought I immediately got addicted to Morisseys voice and way of singing and those guitars.
The Stone Roses – The Stone Roses
Such a band full of attitude and groove. Love every song on this
The Rolling Stones – Beggars Banquet
I always come back to this one. Love the sound of it with all their acoustic guitars.
Radiohead – The Bends
Thom York just got the bends
