Emerging UK artist Olivia Frances Brown releases her debut single “Shade Of Red”. Known in the Liverpool jazz scene for her soul-driven performances, Olivia developed her love for the genre whilst living in Barcelona. “Shade of Red” is the first offering from Olivia’s debut EP.
With its catchy consistent bassline inspired by The Temptations, shuffling live drum patterns and retro-inspired sound, “Shade Of Red” offers listeners a touch of Motown with a modern twist. Taken from her upcoming debut EP, the track showcases Olivia’s raw songwriting ability, outlining the desire and guilt that comes with pursuing a love that is forbidden. With its instantly memorable instrumentation and Olivia’s sultry ‘jazzy vibe’, “Shade Of Red” is set to establish Olivia Frances Brown as a rising star with her own unique style.
“I wanted to capture that feeling of being utterly consumed by something you know you shouldn’t want, yet can’t escape,” says Olivia. “There’s a raw, almost frantic energy in it—the way desire twists into something darker, something that haunts you.”
Unreleased tracks from the EP have already been gaining traction across the BBC network with “You’ll Just Have To Do” which was played on Radio 1 BBC Introducing last year. Along with “She Knows” which garnered multiple plays on BBC Radio Merseyside.
“Shade of Red" showcases Olivia's storytelling prowess, blending her eclectic musical influences into a track that feels both timeless and refreshingly modern. It stands as a testament to her ability to reimagine classic sounds with a contemporary edge. With this release, Olivia solidifies her place as an exciting new talent in today's music scene.
