New Jersey’s Pocket Gum return with their gripping new single, “Wasted”. Known for their dreamy yet fierce fusion of pop-punk and shoegaze, the duo of Joshua Elavia (guitar) and Ryan Von Sauers (bass) continue to push their sonic boundaries, this time, with their most raw and unfiltered release yet.
“Wasted” dives into the dark depths of a drunken reality,” shares the band. “It deals with facing our demons while trying to maintain our day-to-day—going through the motions of monotony.”
Nearly six years in the making, the track was crafted with a mix of studio precision and DIY grit. Drums were recorded at Mt. Moon Recording Studio in Philadelphia, while the rest of the instrumentation and vocals were self-recorded in their basement DIY venue, Mum’s, in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
With its shimmering reverb, hypnotic choruses, and emotionally charged lyricism, Wasted is a bold step forward for Pocket Gum—a band unafraid to embrace vulnerability in pursuit of their vision. Authentic, transparent, and undeniably powerful, this release cements Pocket Gum’s place as a rising force in the alternative scene.
