With their debut album 'Back to Back' arriving this Friday, Vermont singer-songwriter Reid Parsons (they/she) offers one last preview: the quietly radiant single “Lightbulb.” A celebration of enduring love, the track pairs fingerpicked guitar and chamber pop flourishes with a hip-hop-inflected groove and shimmering pedal steel.
“I wrote this for someone who pretends their birthday isn’t special,” Parsons shares. “They light up a room but play it cool. The song’s about that balance of hope and playful cynicism.”
“Lightbulb” is the third single from Back to Back, following the bossa nova-tinged title track and bluesy anthem “Get Out of Bed.” Engineered by Ben Collette (Trey Anastasio), the album blends soul, folk, jazz, and classical influences into a striking, live-to-tape debut.
Parsons will celebrate with shows across Vermont, including a June 12 release show at Foam in Burlington.
